Together, the articles in the
evidence conclusively establish that President Trump has placed
his own personal political interests first. He has placed them above our
national security, above our free and fair elections and above
our system of checks and balances. This conduct is not America first.
It is Donald Trump first. Everyone knew, even Ukraine,
that there was no merit to the allegation that Biden called
for the removal of Shokin for any illegitimate reason. Biden asked for it because it was
consistent, consistent with US policy because Shokin was corrupt. It wasn’t until Biden began beating him
in the polls that he called for the investigation. The president asked Ukraine for
this investigation for one reason and one reason only:
because he knew it would be damaging to an opponent
who was consistently beating him in the polls. If right doesn’t matter, we’re lost.
If the truth doesn’t matter, we’re lost. Framers couldn’t protect us from
ourselves if right and truth don’t matter. And you know that what he did
was not right. But here, right is supposed to matter. It’s what’s made us the greatest
nation on earth. No constitution can protect us.
Right doesn’t matter any more. And you know, you can’t trust this president
to do what’s right for this country. It seems to me to be very clear what’s happening in this old saying
that says that if you say it often enough, it must be true. And the good news is the Democrats
have literally bought into that premise that if you just say it often enough,
it must be true. And we’ve heard the same story,
rinse it, recycle it and repeat it. One of the things that I notice
is that the Republicans have said that we’re being repetitive. Well, you know what? They spent all of Tuesday fighting back
all of our efforts to present new evidence and new documents. So they’re being totally hypocritical
in saying that this is all, we haven’t produced any new stuff. As though the things that have already
been presented isn’t damning enough.
